After two weeks of torment and a lot of zinc oxide tape, something clicked, and the old Scarpas are now feeling good. Apparently 2011 has been Scotland’s wettest year on record and, judging by the sodden ground, I can believe it. I have to admit I’m glad I’ve been wearing a set of bomber old skool leather boots rather than my usual fell shoes and Sealskinz combo.
